Write It Down
“Write down what I show you. Make it very clear on the page where you write it. Then someone can easily read it and tell the message to other people.” — Habakkuk 2:2
God told Habakkuk to write down what He showed him — plain and simple. And honestly? We can do the same thing. Sometimes, we think we’re hearing from God, but it takes time to know for sure. A few good questions to ask are:
— Does it line up with the Bible?
— Does it help someone else?
— Does it bring you peace?
Let’s break that down a little:
Does It Line Up with the Bible?
The Bible says Jesus died to save us, rose again to beat death, and gives eternal life to everyone who believes in Him. Jesus also told us to share that good news with the world.
And not just with words — but with how we live. We’re called to love others the way He loved us. When we show mercy, we point people to Him.
Maybe you’re feeling a nudge to help at a homeless shelter, volunteer at a women’s shelter, or get involved with foster kids. These are powerful ways to love “the least of these” and draw people closer to God.
Are You Helping Someone?
Helping doesn’t have to be a huge, life-changing mission. Sometimes, it’s as small as smiling at someone who looks like they’re having a rough day, or offering to help carry groceries for an elderly lady.
On the flip side, if you feel like God’s calling you to live a life of luxury — with a mansion, a chauffeur, and a butler — but you’re not serving anybody but yourself… that’s not the voice of God.
Remember, Jesus came to serve, not to be served. He wants us to do the same.
If you’re not sure where to start, pray something simple like, “Lord, use me.”
Then listen. Write down what you hear — and give it a try.
Do You Feel God’s Peace?
When you step out to serve, do you feel peace inside? Are you able to share God’s love through what you’re doing?
If so, that’s a good sign you’re moving in the right direction.
Write it down. Keep track of what God is doing in your life through your steps of faith. You’ll be amazed when you look back and see how He’s worked through you.
When in Doubt, Keep Reading the Bible
If you’re ever unsure, don’t forget: God speaks through His Word.
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” — Hebrews 4:12-13
The more you stay in the Bible, the more clearly you’ll hear Him.
“Write down what I will show to you. Make it very clear on the page where you write it. Then someone can easily read it, and he can tell the message to other people.” Habakkuk 2:2
